Where you are going
Luchito’s Cooking Class is at Calle Bolívar 164, Miraflores, the SAHA rooftop entrance, behind the Atlantic City casino near the corner of Avenida José Larco and Avenida Benavides. The class is on the third-floor terrace.
For a driver, “Calle Bolívar 164, Miraflores, detrás del casino Atlantic City” is all you need. If the driver cannot stop on Calle Bolívar itself, the Larco and Benavides corner is a one-minute walk away. Be there ten minutes before the class starts.

Times are along the street route at an easy pace. If you are staying around Kennedy Park, our guide to cooking classes near Kennedy Park has the step-by-step walk.
From Barranco, the walk is a pleasant option before an afternoon class: follow the clifftop path north along the Malecón into Miraflores, then turn inland toward Larco. Our Barranco vs Miraflores guide covers both neighborhoods.
Taxis and ride apps
- Ride apps are the easiest option. Uber, Cabify, DiDi and InDrive all operate in Lima. You see the price before you ride, and you should check that the plate and driver match the app before you get in.
- Street taxis do not use meters. Agree the fare before you get in, or ask your hotel to call a taxi for you.
- Plan around rush hour. Heading to the 2:00 pm class, you miss both peaks. Heading to the 6:00 pm class, you are travelling in the middle of the evening rush, so leave earlier than the map suggests.
- Leaving after class: the 2:00 pm class ends around 4:30 pm, just before the evening peak. The 6:00 pm class ends around 8:30 pm, when the roads start to clear and a ride from the door is the simplest option.
The Metropolitano
The Metropolitano is Lima’s rapid bus line. It runs in its own lanes along the Vía Expresa (Paseo de la República), linking central Lima with San Isidro, Miraflores and Barranco, so it skips the worst of the traffic.
- Nearest station: Benavides, about 600 metres and an eight-minute walk from the class, along Avenida Benavides and Calle Bolívar. Ricardo Palma and 28 de Julio are about 13 to 14 minutes away.
- Fare: about S/3.20 per trip on the main line, paid with a rechargeable card. The Lima Pass card costs S/4.50, is sold and topped up at stations, and cash is not accepted at the turnstiles.
- Hours: roughly 5:30 am to 11:00 pm.
- Express services skip some stations, so check the route board for a service that stops at Benavides.
- When to skip it: at rush hour, when it is very crowded, or if you are carrying luggage.
It makes most sense coming from central Lima, where a taxi spends much of its time in traffic.
From the airport
Jorge Chávez airport is about 20 km from the class. Allow 45 to 70 minutes on the road, and 30 to 45 minutes more at peak.
- Airport Express Lima: a dedicated bus to Miraflores. The airport’s own site lists the fare at S/20 per person, or S/15 each for two or more, with stops at the Marriott across from Larcomar, Av. José Larco at San Martín, Kennedy Park (Av. Diagonal at Berlín) and the Hotel Boulevard. From the Kennedy Park stop, the class is an eight to ten minute walk.
- Ride apps: quoted fares to Miraflores vary widely with time and demand, roughly S/45 to S/110. At the new terminal, follow the app’s instructions to the pickup zone and ignore anyone who approaches you claiming to be your driver.
- Official taxi counters: inside the terminal, at fixed prices that are higher than the apps.
Going straight from a flight to a class needs a long layover. Our airport layover guide works through the timing.
From a cruise ship in Callao
The port is about 15 to 20 km from Miraflores, 30 to 45 minutes on a good run and up to an hour and a half at peak. Most passengers use a pre-arranged transfer or a ride app. Our guide to a cooking class on a cruise port day explains how many hours in port you need.
Hotel pickup: the market class
The Cooking Class and Local Market includes pickup from selected accommodations in Lima between 12:00 and 12:30 pm, before the visit to Surquillo Market. Confirm that your hotel is covered when you book. The afternoon, evening and private classes meet at Calle Bolívar 164. Our guide to the market tour and cooking class goes through the day.
When to leave: a rough guide
| Coming from | For the 2:00 pm class, leave by | For the 6:00 pm class, leave by |
|---|---|---|
| Central Miraflores, on foot | 1:35 pm | 5:35 pm |
| Barranco, by car | 1:20 pm | 5:10 pm |
| San Isidro, by car | 1:15 pm | 5:00 pm |
| Central Lima, by car or Metropolitano | 12:50 pm | 4:40 pm |
These build in the ten-minute arrival buffer and a margin for traffic. The evening column leaves more slack because you are travelling in the rush. If you are still choosing a session, we compare the afternoon and evening classes side by side.

Limitations
Travel times are typical ranges, not guarantees, and Lima traffic can add a lot to them at peak. Walking times were measured along the street route with mapping data and are approximate. Fares for the Metropolitano, the Airport Express Lima bus and ride apps come from published sources in October 2026 and change over time; ride-app prices also change with demand. The leave-by times are a planning aid, not advice for any specific day. Luchito’s class times and pickup details are the operator’s published details and subject to change.
